Emergency Shelter
The Emergency Shelter provides homeless adults and families
temporary shelter and meals. On-site programs, shelter staff, and community
volunteers help clients access resources for independent living. The
program emphasis is to help clients set short-term goals that will equip
them for relocation into a stable environment upon exiting the shelter.
Maximum length of occupancy is four (4) months with options (Program
Tracks) extending to ten (10) months for eligible program participants.
The Emergency Shelter has:

78 bed capacity: 50 men, 28 women and children (housed
separately) filled on a first come, first served basis

Structured communal living arrangements including
assigned chores

24-hour staffing, open seven days per week, year-round

Specific referral processes exist for hospital patient
discharges and inmate releases -- Referral

Case management assessment involving community resource
networking with the Employment Security Commission, Vocational Rehabilitation
Services, Work First, Legal Services, Mental Health Services, Social
Security Administration, Public Health, and others.
Transitional Housing
Transitional Housing provides structured, apartment living for individuals
and families that need agency support to make the change from homelessness
to independent living. The program emphasis is helping clients set long-term
goals that will equip them to maintain quality life successes and secure
a future free from homelessness. Occupancy is a minimum of one year,
and may extend to two years.

Solid Ground
Solid Ground provides structured apartment living for disabled homeless
individuals and their families. The program offers stable, affordable
housing options.

Emergency Assistance Ministry
The Emergency Assistance Ministry is the homelessness prevention component
of Greenville Community Shelter services. The EAM provides financial
assistance and couseling to people who are in a crisis state of financial
emergency or with past due bills that threaten a basic need. The goal
of the EAM is to help clients address and immediate need while retaining
family stability, dignity and independence.

Provides emergency financial assistance and couseling
for homelessness prevention on a case-by-case basis when a reasonable
expectation of improved stability is present. Types of assistance
include utilities, rent/mortgage, medicine, and food.
